In order to avoid the hassle of providing executable apps, installing stuff and so on, a simpler solution is to run Python 3 scripts directly. This little program enables you to do that.
For the scripts provided below, a copy is already included, so you don't need to download it here. However, if you wish to run Python 3 scripts of your own, you may well find it useful.
See the link on the left for further information and downloading.
The PY Spam Gobbler allows you to preview the senders and subjects of the messages in your e-mail accounts so that you can decide whether or not they constitute spam, and if so, they can be deleted from the server. This saves you having to download them into your e-mail app (e.g. Thunderbird).
It is currently able to deal with POP3 and IMAP accounts. It is especially useful for IMAP because normally you are unable to use your main app to remove unwanted messages from the server.
If you have long lists of calculations to do, and you wish to keep a record of the values for addition or subtraction, together with the total, you may well find this little app more convenient to use than a normal calculator.
It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a normal calculator, since it can only add or subract, but in compensation you can save your calculation files to form an archive, a facility you are not normally offered. And of course these AdderUpper files can be re-loaded into the app so that you can continue where you left off, and/or make alterations to the values as might later become necessary.
As a Linux user, I wouldn't be without this little app! Linux is very good in terms of security, restricting files and folders to use by defined users only, making them "read only", and so on. However, if you are working in a domestic environment for example, where there are no problems of security, these restrictions can become something of a pain. With this app, you can choose a folder, and "zap" it so that the restrictions are removed. What you end up with in your private environment is a folder which is equivalent to the security provided by the Windows operating system (!!!!!). Practical at least. You can even zap an entire pendrive if you want.
Lists which contain dates that are not in chronological order, such as the filenames grabbed from folders on the HD of your computer, are not easily usable for any purpose as they stand. In addition to sorting the lines of such lists into order by date, this app also allows you to tailor the dates in various forms according to your need or taste. Thereafter, they are not only more comprehensible visually, but they facilitate any further processing required, such as statistical analysis etc.
