Installing WINE
Most users of Linux have WINE installed so that they can run Windows apps or modules. Not all the apps offered at the BobbyPY website require it, but some do. Regardless of whether it is required immediately here , it is never a bad idea to have WINE installed so that you can run Windows apps when you need to.

However, LMDE is a relatively new distro, and to be honest it is still a tiny bit rough around the edges. The version of WINE that can be installed via the Software Manager, and even updated subsequently, just does not work, at least on my machine. Perhaps I am just unlucky for some reason. Whatever, if you install WINE in the manner described below, I think that you cannot go far wrong, since it shows how to install the latest version on Debian 12 Bookworm, which is the very basis of the Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE 6).

Here are the instructions I used to install WINE on my computer.

All you have to do is copy lines from the webpage and paste them (using the menu - not the Ctrl + v keys on your keyboard) into the LMDE Terminal, followed by ENTER.

You will be asked for your Linux password, so just type that in followed my ENTER.
Regarding the section headed "How to install a Windows App" and the advice which follows, I think you can probably ignore these details which are more applicable to pure Debian distros than to Linux Mint. (Debian is never very user friendly.)

All I have ever done in Linux Mint is to plonk my standalone Windows app or my installer program anywhere in my file system (including the Desktop), and double-click on it, just as I would do in Windows. Pronto!

For the apps at BobbyPY, you don't even need to do that. Once WINE has been installed, that's it! Just forget about it (unless you need to use WINE for another purpose).
